Subnautica 2, developed by Krafton's (259960.KS) creative studio Unknown Worlds, has reached 4 million copies in cumulative global sales.
Krafton said Tuesday that Subnautica 2 surpassed 4 million in cumulative sales just five days after its release. Subnautica 2 is an underwater survival action-adventure game that Krafton launched in early access on the 15th.
The game recorded 1 million in sales upon its early access launch and surpassed 2 million within 12 hours of release. Peak concurrent users on Steam reached 467,000, while daily average active users reached 1.3 million. Cumulative playtime totaled 28.57 million hours. The game currently has approximately 73,000 reviews on Steam and maintains a "Very Positive" user rating with 91% favorable reviews.
Subnautica 2 plans to enhance the fun of deep-sea exploration through sequential patches that will adjust the aggressiveness and detection range of creatures and strengthen the utility of survival tools.
"Early access is a collaborative process of completing the game together with players," said Fernando Melo, executive producer of Subnautica 2. "We will continue to listen to players' voices and deliver deeper exploration and adventure."
"What is most needed to complete the deep-sea experience that Subnautica 2 envisions is ultimately player feedback," said Lee Jin-hyung, head of the division at Krafton. "We will spare no support to ensure the early access experience becomes a satisfying journey for players."
Subnautica 2 is the official sequel to the Subnautica series, which pioneered the underwater survival genre. Set on an alien planet different from its predecessor, the game vividly portrays an unknown ecosystem through graphics based on Unreal Engine 5. It also introduces a co-op mode for up to four players for the first time in the series.
Subnautica 2 is available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series X|S.
