TMAP Mobility has launched a new service that automatically recommends popular nearby destinations, including restaurants, cafes and drive-throughs, while users follow their navigation routes.
TMAP Mobility unveiled the "Where to Go While Driving" service on Wednesday. The feature can be activated instantly with a single touch of a dedicated icon on the navigation screen, allowing drivers to explore nearby attractions even while on the move.
Recommended places appear on the map alongside ratings based on "TMAP Ranking," a system in which users score venues they have actually visited, enhancing the reliability of the recommendations. When a user selects a recommended location, a pop-up appears at the bottom of the screen showing a representative image along with information such as business hours, parking and visitor reviews. Driving settings, including adding a waypoint or changing the destination, can also be adjusted with a single touch, and users can save locations for future visits.
TMAP Mobility said the service has shown high utility not only when traveling to familiar destinations such as home or the office, but also when users need a quick stop in unfamiliar areas. The company noted the feature is particularly useful for drivers seeking reasonable route choices without significantly disrupting their driving flow.
"To enhance the convenience of place recommendations, we have expanded our personalized recommendation service 'Where to Go' from the pre-trip search phase to in-drive situations," said Jeon Chang-geun, Chief Product Officer (CPO) at TMAP Mobility. "We plan to continue introducing various services so that place discovery and mobility experiences can be organically connected throughout the TMAP user experience."
