Meta's artificial intelligence (AI) smart glasses, popularly known as "Jennie glasses," are set to land in the Korean market.
Meta announced on Wednesday (local time) that it will launch its next-generation AI glasses, "Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2" and "Oakley Meta," in Korea on the 25th, in partnership with global eyewear company EssilorLuxottica. Ray-Ban and Oakley AI glasses were a hit product, selling more than 7 million units last year. Ray-Ban Meta even faced supply shortages in the U.S. market until earlier this year.
Ray-Ban Meta is distinguished by its integration with Meta AI, enabling a variety of AI-powered functions. The newly released Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 comes in Ray-Ban's signature frame designs including Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner. It is equipped with a battery that lasts up to eight hours and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
The glasses also support 3K Ultra HD photo and video recording, along with open-ear audio functionality. Users can take photos and record videos hands-free through the "Hey Meta" voice command. Captured content can be edited and shared via the Meta AI app.
Ray-Ban Meta is available not only with sunglass lenses but also with various options including clear, polarized, and photochromic lenses. Two eyeglass-style models for prescription lens wearers will also be released.
Goggle-Style 'Oakley Meta'

Oakley Meta will be released in two versions: the performance-line "Vanguard" and the lifestyle-line "HSTN." It combines Meta AI features with Oakley's sports eyewear technology.
"Oakley Meta Vanguard" is equipped with Oakley Prizm lens technology, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and advanced noise-reduction features. Optimized for running, cycling, and outdoor activities, it also supports IP67-rated water and dust resistance. "Oakley Meta HSTN" is a lifestyle-oriented AI glass equipped with a 3K Ultra HD camera and open-ear speakers. Select models feature Prizm lens technology that enhances visual clarity across various lighting conditions.
Both Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta are designed with an LED indicator that automatically lights up during photo or video capture to alert those nearby that recording is in progress.
The two products will be sold at department stores, duty-free shops, and optical stores in Korea. Oakley Meta will also be available at Oakley partner stores. Prices start at 690,000 won.
"Korea is a market that is highly sensitive to fashion and lifestyle trends and quickly adapts to new changes, while also showing strong interest in AI technology," said Tay Siang Lim, CEO of EssilorLuxottica Korea. "We expect these products to offer a new lifestyle experience to Korean consumers who value both style and innovative technology."
