Naver (035420.KS) and Nexon are joining forces to expand a content and payment ecosystem spanning both companies' platforms. The plan calls for building an integrated account system based on Naver's strengths in convenience and security, while actively promoting derivative works that leverage Nexon's game intellectual property (IP).
The two companies announced Tuesday they will introduce a service that converts Nexon users into "Naver login members" and unveiled a new project called "N Connect."
Through the integration, Nexon users aged 14 and older can easily log in with their Naver IDs while retaining their existing gameplay records. Payments for in-game paid items can also be processed conveniently through Naver Pay (Npay).
N Connect is designed to expand Nexon IP-based content on Chzzk, Naver's live-streaming platform. The two companies will establish and operate a dedicated "content support center" to help streamers of all tiers on Chzzk — Partner, Pro, and Rookie — smoothly produce Nexon game broadcasts and content. N Connect will run as a preseason through September 22, with the regular season beginning in October.
The move is an extension of a business agreement signed last September and reflects the converging interests of both companies in tearing down barriers between platforms to maximize synergy. Naver provides its proven account management system while expanding Naver Pay's payment reach into the large gaming market.
Nexon's strategy is to leverage the buzz around derivative content created by Chzzk streamers to draw viewers from "watching games" into "playing them directly." Joint marketing is also anticipated between Naver, which has secured broadcasting rights for the 2026 and 2030 World Cups, and Nexon, which operates the soccer game "FC Online."
In addition, Nexon will offer major game coupon packs to users who switch to Naver accounts and run a promotion that returns 10% of the payment amount as savings on first Naver Pay transactions.
"We will organically connect Naver's diverse services with Nexon's game IP to provide differentiated content and benefits available only on Naver, and continue to expand the partnership," said Lee Jae-hoo, head of Naver's entertainment service division.
