
South Korea's benchmark KOSPI index surpassed the 7,500 mark for the first time during intraday trading on Monday, setting a new all-time high just one day after breaking through the 7,000 level for the first time.
The KOSPI hit an intraday record of 7,531.88 at 9:01 a.m., up 147.32 points, or 1.99%, from the previous session. The index opened at 7,499.07, up 114.51 points, or 1.55%, before quickly extending gains to cross the 7,500 threshold.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ opened at 1,210.83, up 0.66 points, or 0.05%, from the previous session. Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) was trading at 271,500 won, up 5,500 won or 2.07%, while SK hynix (000660.KS) rose 18,000 won, or 1.12%, to 1,619,000 won.
