Kakao (035720.KS) is launching digital education programs, including artificial intelligence (AI) training, for seniors across Korea.
Kakao said Tuesday that its corporate foundation, Kakao Impact Foundation, will run the "2026 Outreach Senior Digital School" starting this month. This year's program will serve approximately 3,000 participants at 150 senior institutions nationwide.
From the 4th to the 7th of this month, the foundation will provide lifestyle education to 2,000 people aged 60 and older at 100 senior welfare centers across the country. The sessions will cover how to use KakaoTalk, KakaoMap and Kakao T, along with guidance on accessing public services. AI education has also been newly introduced. From September to November, the foundation will operate the "Sagak Sagak Pay School" at 50 institutions nationwide for about 1,000 participants, providing practical education focused on KakaoPay usage and financial fraud prevention.
The Outreach Senior Digital School is Kakao's flagship ESG program, launched in 2024. To date, a total of 7,000 middle-aged and older participants have taken part in the training at 312 institutions. The latest call for participating institutions drew 353 applications, representing a competition ratio of roughly 2.5 to 1. This year, the proportion of institutions outside the Seoul metropolitan area was expanded from 50% to 70% in an effort to narrow the regional digital divide.
"We plan to continue various efforts to help seniors use AI more easily and comfortably, and to contribute to the realization of AI for all," said Ryu Seok-young, chairperson of the Kakao Impact Foundation.
