A campaign has been launched to promote the recycling of products made from composite materials that are difficult to recycle, such as coffee capsules and cosmetic containers.
The Korea Post announced on Tuesday that it will run a "Resource Circulation Event" with TerraCycle through July. The campaign aims to spread a culture of resource circulation through public participation, while also promoting the post office's reverse logistics services and its mobile banking platform.
Consumers with items made of composite materials that are hard to recycle — including coffee capsules, cosmetic containers and water purifier filters — can apply for door-to-door collection through TerraCycle's website or pick up a collection envelope at a nearby postbox. Participants can also place items in the collection envelope and drop it into a nearby postbox. Among participants, new subscribers to the Korea Post's "itda Banking" service are also eligible for rewards.
"This campaign is an eco-friendly public service model that leverages the post office's reverse logistics infrastructure while spreading a culture of resource circulation based on public participation," said Park In-hwan, head of the Korea Post. "We will continue to collaborate with various institutions to realize both environmental and social value."
