LG CNS reported first-quarter revenue of 1.315 trillion won ($970 million) and operating profit of 94.2 billion won ($69 million), up 8.6% and 19.4% year-on-year, respectively, the company said Thursday.
By business segment, revenue from artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud — the company's core growth drivers — rose 6.7% year-on-year to 765.4 billion won, accounting for approximately 58% of total revenue. LG CNS has expanded its AI portfolio across all industrial sectors, including public and defense, finance, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and biotech, shipbuilding and defense industries. The company is strengthening its leadership in the enterprise AI transformation (AX) market by expanding partnerships with global big tech firms such as OpenAI and Palantir.
In the cloud segment, LG CNS is expanding its business based on data center design, build and operate (DBO) services. The company recently secured orders worth more than 1 trillion won at the Samsong data center alone, cementing its position as Korea's top DBO operator. In response to the spread of AI and cloud adoption, LG CNS also unveiled a new modular AI data center that can be built within six months.
First-quarter revenue from the smart engineering business rose 10.4% year-on-year to 227.8 billion won. The smart logistics business is centered on logistics automation center projects for clients in beauty, food, fashion and defense industries. The "Mobile Shuttle," which applies AI and mathematical optimization technology, has been deployed at Paris Baguette's U.S. factory and North American plants of LG affiliates. The lightweight smart factory solution launched last year is seeing increasing demand from new industry segments including food, medical, electronics and consumer goods. The next-generation agentic AI-based battery testing equipment unveiled at "InterBattery 2026" also drew positive feedback from customers.
First-quarter revenue from the digital business services segment rose 11.9% year-on-year to 321.9 billion won. The growth was driven by next-generation IT system construction and integration projects for major financial clients including NH Nonghyup Bank, Mirae Asset Life Insurance, Shinhan Securities, Korea Securities Depository and Hanwha General Insurance.
Based on these results, LG CNS plans to strategically pursue a "full-stack robot transformation (RX) service" in the physical AI field, combining an industry-specific robot foundation model (RFM), hardware and platform. LG CNS plans to publicly launch its in-house developed robot learning and operation platform next month and begin full-scale business expansion.
The company will also continue expanding its global business. An AI data center in Indonesia, the first such project won by a Korean company, is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
