Krafton (259960.KS) posted consolidated operating profit of 561.6 billion won ($410 million) in the first quarter of this year.
The company disclosed its preliminary first-quarter earnings on Wednesday. Operating profit rose 22.8% from a year earlier. Revenue increased 56.9% year-on-year to 1.37 trillion won, while net profit grew 38.4% to 514.1 billion won.
By business segment, revenue came in at 363.9 billion won for PC, 702.7 billion won for mobile, 13.8 billion won for console and 291 billion won for other categories. Revenue from the "PUBG: Battlegrounds" franchise rose 24% year-on-year, pushing quarterly sales past 1 trillion won. Revenue grew sharply on the relaunch of the Aston Martin collaboration content for the PC version marking Battlegrounds' ninth anniversary, while the mobile segment set a record as premium content and IP collaborations contributed to sales.
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the Indian version, saw paying users rise 17% year-on-year. The increase followed investments to expand server capacity that broadened user access and the addition of varied content. Revenue in the other segment grew by 285.9 billion won from a year earlier, reflecting results from the ADK Group.
Krafton plans to develop inZOI, which launched in early access last year, into an IP with a long product life cycle (PLC). The company will enhance content to strengthen the life simulation experience and expand user access through console porting. It will also provide an AI script modding tool to create an environment where anyone can easily create content. By introducing multiplayer, the company plans to grow the title into a platform-type IP on which users can share and play content they have created.
In addition, the open-world survival crafting game "Subnautica 2" is preparing for an early access release. Krafton also plans to apply the four "Laon" multimodal AI models it unveiled this month to its own games.
