SK Telink has partnered with Emart24 to launch "Simple USIM," a universal SIM card compatible across mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) on the SK Telecom network, at Emart24 convenience stores nationwide, the company announced.
Simple USIM is a shared USIM that is not limited to any specific MVNO brand but can be used jointly by MVNO operators on the SK Telecom network. It is supplied through SK Telink. Consumers can purchase the USIM at Emart24 stores nationwide, then select their preferred MVNO brand plan and activate service immediately.
SK Telink has created an environment in which multiple MVNO operators can offer different plans and services based on the same USIM. The move departs from the previous structure, in which each operator had to run its own offline distribution network and logistics system, simultaneously improving operational efficiency and market accessibility.
Business partner Emart24 provides an offline store network of approximately 5,500 locations nationwide. Through this network, MVNO customers can easily purchase and activate USIMs at stores near their neighborhoods.
SK Telink will also launch a dedicated portal site for Simple USIM. The portal will provide information including an overview of Simple USIM, details on participating operators, points of purchase, and delivery guidance.
To mark the launch of Simple USIM, MVNO operators on the SK Telecom network plan to run promotions offering a range of prizes, including MacBooks, iPhones, and AirPods, for customers who purchase and activate service through Emart24 stores by the end of May.
