■ Company-Wide AX Transformation Accelerates: Korean IT and manufacturing firms including Webcash (053580), Toss, Channel Corporation and SK Telecom (017670) are ramping up enterprise-wide AI transformation (AX) efforts, such as installing three monitors per desk, running weekly AI Days, and allowing unlimited AI usage for all employees. As AX spreads throughout organizations — to the extent that an in-house barista with no coding experience built a kiosk app through vibe coding — concerns over AI-driven job displacement are also growing amid large-scale layoffs at Big Tech firms such as Meta, Amazon and Microsoft.
■ Major AI Investment Deal Emerges: Google has committed up to $40 billion (approximately 59 trillion won) in additional investment in Anthropic, valuing the AI company at $350 billion (approximately 520 trillion won). Google Cloud will provide 5GW of computing capacity over the next five years, and Anthropic's valuation could climb to more than $800 billion (approximately 1,180 trillion won) if it pursues an initial public offering (IPO) within the year.
■ Response to Surging Export Logistics Costs: With maritime and air freight rates jumping more than 40% due to instability in the Middle East, the burden on exporters has reached critical levels. The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and national shipping and airline carriers, will launch the '2026 Maritime and Air Export Logistics Support Program' across three tracks starting November 27.

Webcash invested 40 million won to install three monitors on every developer's desk, while Toss and TMAP Mobility designate every Friday as 'AI Day,' where all employees learn and practice AI. Channel Corporation granted all employees unlimited use of Anthropic's AI service Claude tokens, resulting in a company café barista with no coding experience building a kiosk ordering app through vibe coding. SK Telecom, SK Broadband and Shinsegae I&C have set 'one AI agent per employee' as this year's internal goal, while POSCO DX (022100) plans to train 400 AI agent specialists through its 'AX Academy' by the first half.
2. 'Countering OpenAI' with Ammunition… Google Invests $40 Billion in Anthropic
- Key Summary: Google has decided to make up to $40 billion (approximately 59 trillion won) in additional investment in Anthropic, developer of the AI model Claude. Anthropic was valued at $350 billion (approximately 520 trillion won) in this investment. Google will first disburse $10 billion (approximately 15 trillion won) and inject an additional $30 billion (approximately 44 trillion won) upon meeting performance targets. Google Cloud will also provide Anthropic with 5GW of computing capacity over the next five years, worth approximately $200 billion (approximately 295 trillion won). Anthropic is reportedly planning to pursue an IPO within the year, with its valuation potentially rising to more than $800 billion (approximately 1,180 trillion won) upon listing.
3. Hyundai Department Store (069960) 'Customized Shopping' Hits Big… Draws 140,000 Visitors
- Key Summary: Hyundai Department Store is seeing strong results both online and offline with its curation strategy. Its new integrated platform 'The Hyundai Hi' attracted 140,000 new members in its first two weeks, a 843% increase compared with the combined figure of existing platforms in the same period last year. Average daily visitors reached 310,000, up 446%, and the offline gift-focused store 'The Hyundai Gift' achieved 120% of its target sales within less than a month of opening. 4. KITA Helps SMEs with 'Logistics Cost Burden' Expand Exports
- Key Summary: The Korea International Trade Association will implement the '2026 Maritime and Air Export Logistics Support Program' starting November 27 in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and national shipping and airline carriers. The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) has risen 41.5% from the end of February due to Middle East instability and rising oil prices, while air freight rates on U.S. routes surged 47.8% over the same period, pushing the burden on export shippers to critical levels. Support is provided in three tracks: maritime FCL (full container load), maritime LCL (less-than-container load) rate promotions, and air 'Kita Express.' Small and medium-sized enterprises using FCL will receive 10–20% discounts on major India and Southeast Asia route capacity compared to market rates. In the air segment, cosmetics, apparel and accessory exporters using Incheon-to-Americas (LA) and Europe (Frankfurt, Vienna, London) routes can apply special rates starting in May.
- Key Summary: Home & Shopping is establishing itself as a platform that helps small and medium-sized enterprises expand into overseas markets. Last year, 74 SMEs recorded approximately 10 billion won in exports through Home & Shopping's support. Since 2021, Home & Shopping has operated export support programs centered on major markets such as the U.S., China and Southeast Asia, including online platform listings, offline distribution connections, marketing and logistics support. Jeonghan Industries, a home shopping apparel company with 3 billion won in revenue at its founding in 2014, grew 900% to 30 billion won in revenue last year by exporting K-fashion to Taiwan with Home & Shopping's support. Home & Shopping's effective sales commission rate of 22.8% is lower than competitors such as CJ Onstyle (29.6%), Hyundai Home Shopping (057050) (28.7%) and Lotte Home Shopping (28.9%), and since February this year, the settlement cycle has been shortened to 10 days.
6. DS and Other Latecomer Asset Managers Enter the Field… Targeting ETF Niche Market
- Key Summary: As Korea's exchange-traded fund (ETF) market grows rapidly, small and mid-sized asset managers are increasingly entering or re-entering the market. DS Asset Management is finalizing its organizational structure with the goal of launching a KOSDAQ active ETF between late June and early July, while Brain Asset Management and Daol Asset Management are reportedly conducting market research to launch their first ETFs. With discussions intensifying on abolishing the 'correlation coefficient 0.7' regulation that has limited the flexibility of active ETFs, competition based on management capabilities is expected to intensify. Given that only one asset manager newly entered the ETF market last year, the base of asset managers is expected to expand this year. To list new ETFs, firms must undergo Korea Exchange screening, which comprehensively evaluates the legality of product structures, the sustainability of underlying asset management, and the asset manager's internal controls and disclosure systems.
