LG Uplus (032640.KS) announced Wednesday that it has officially launched an "AI Financial Assistant" incorporating generative artificial intelligence technology, jointly developed with Welcome Savings Bank, marking the first such service in Korea's savings bank industry.
The AI Financial Assistant, integrated into Welcome Savings Bank's mobile application "Welcome Digital Bank (Welbank)," combines LG AI Research's large language model (LLM) EXAONE with Welcome Savings Bank's data and LG Uplus's expertise in building and operating AI agents.
Welcome Savings Bank customers can now handle financial tasks by inputting voice or text in their everyday language, without navigating complex menus. For example, when a customer asks, "Show me yesterday's payment history," transaction details are displayed immediately. Users can also perform common financial tasks such as money transfers, account inquiries and transaction history checks, while receiving customized responses based on their usage history and financial data. Summary and analysis functions for financial information are also available.
Security has also been strengthened, with the system designed to require a final confirmation step when executing transactions. LG Uplus and Welcome Savings Bank plan to upgrade performance based on feedback gathered during the pilot period and apply the latest AI models to enhance conversational context understanding and complex query processing capabilities.
"This financial assistant launch is a meaningful case that combines EXAONE-based AI technology optimized for Korea with Welcome Savings Bank's commitment to innovation," said Ahn Hyung-kyun, executive at LG Uplus. "We will expand conversational AI services across the financial sector, including insurance, securities and cards."
