Cherry blossom buds on the verge of blooming look as though they might burst open with a pop at any moment. It is the season when blossoms erupt like popcorn across the land. The flowers and grass of early spring, soon to give way to deep summer foliage, show their tender faces only at this time of year.
That is why April calls people outdoors. If you want to see smiles on the faces of loved ones, friends and family, make the extra effort. For full-blown laughter rather than just a grin, theme parks are the perfect destination. A place with the thrill of spring blossoms, strolls, rides, sights and food — there is no better outing for April than a theme park.
Legoland: Awakening the Inner Child
For families with children in fourth grade or younger, Legoland in Chuncheon deserves top priority. Visited on Saturday the 4th, Legoland is only a 90-minute drive from Seoul. Being in Gangwon Province, however, the cherry blossoms had yet to reach full bloom. Clouds came and went after a morning drizzle, but the children could not have cared less, bursting with laughter throughout the day.
A boy seated in the front car of the observation train gazed at the scenery, glanced back at his mother, and smiled. His mother smiled right back. At the carousel, twin kindergarten-age girls struggled to climb onto the horses. "Shall I lift you up?" — after hoisting each one into the saddle, the girls' father called out from outside the ride, "Oh, thank you so much!"
