Karrot, a hyperlocal community platform, announced Thursday that it has launched a "Talk to Write" feature that allows users to write reviews of local businesses using their voice.
The service uses a conversational interface for writing reviews. An artificial intelligence (AI) system asks questions about a user's visit to a business, and the user responds by voice. Once the conversation ends, the AI organizes the entire content into a completed text review.
The questions are designed to draw out specific details about the user's actual experience, including the business's atmosphere, service features, and items ordered. "Talk to Write" is accessible through the review writing screen within business profiles on the neighborhood map tab.
The feature was expanded to all business categories after delivering tangible results during a beta service conducted in January. During the test period, "Talk to Write" recorded a high repeat usage rate of 43%. Quality satisfaction was also found to be 40% higher compared to standard reviews.
"Karrot's local business reviews have established themselves as information that goes beyond simple ratings to help neighbors enjoy a better local life," a Karrot official said. "We expect the 'Talk to Write' feature will help users' valuable experiences be recorded in greater detail, enhancing their value as local information."
