Autonomous A2Z, a self-driving technology company, announced Thursday that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HL Klemove, an autonomous driving solutions unit of HL Group, to develop core technologies for Level 4 autonomous vehicles. The Cheonggyecheon area in central Seoul is an urban demonstration zone where A2Z's Level 4 autonomous shuttle "ROii" is currently in operation.
Under the agreement, the two companies will begin full-scale integrated development combining an autonomous driving platform with core automotive technologies to advance Level 4 self-driving capabilities. The partnership combines A2Z's Level 4 autonomous driving platform, vehicle operation technology, and urban demonstration data with HL Klemove's radar, camera, high-performance computing (HPC), sensor fusion, and perception and control technologies. A2Z will lead system integration based on its real-world urban driving experience and accumulated data, while HL Klemove will be responsible for core technologies and integration capabilities required to implement autonomous driving systems. Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to organically connect the key components of autonomous driving systems.
In particular, the two companies will focus on jointly developing an artificial intelligence-based end-to-end autonomous driving system centered on HPC — a core in-vehicle computing architecture — that spans sensor perception, driving decisions, and vehicle control. The companies aim to secure the technological reliability and stability required for real-world operations and to gradually raise production-ready technical maturity to strengthen global market competitiveness. HL Klemove, HL Group's autonomous driving solutions specialist, possesses technological capabilities across the full autonomous driving system, from sensors such as radar and cameras to HPC and software.
"The partnership with HL Klemove enables us to secure a stable supply chain and develop more precise technologies needed for autonomous vehicle development," Autonomous A2Z CEO Han Ji-hyung said. "Based on the real-world driving data A2Z has accumulated across major urban areas nationwide, we will deliver highly refined Level 4 autonomous driving technology and expand our influence in the global market."
