Nexon announced on March 3 that it has applied a large-scale update to its online role-playing game (RPG) *The Kingdom of the Winds* to celebrate the game's 30th anniversary of service.
*The Kingdom of the Winds*, which launched in 1996 and marks its 30th anniversary this year, introduces a new class called "Black Hwarang" as part of the commemorative update. The update also adds "Silla," a new region for the 9th job advancement that features the characters' backstory.
Black Hwarang is a class that wields both the refined martial arts of Silla's Hwarang and the twisted power of "Mago" simultaneously. The class uses flashy yet disciplined "Sword Dance" and "Demon Archery" skills to engage in dazzling combat across both close and long range. Players can experience the thrill of relentlessly attacking enemies with unique magic and gathering the energy of the Red Moon to sustain stable combat.
Additionally, the update introduces the 9th job advancement for all classes and expands the maximum level to 949. New raids "Hakan" and "Vritra" are also introduced, with Vritra legendary equipment available as defeat rewards. Furthermore, a new eight-player cooperative Player vs. Environment (PvE) content called "Gweryeoknansin" has been added. Defeating the first boss, "Thousand-Year-Old Centipede Monster," provides "Madness of Geonejine," which grants various effects from the new stat enhancement system "Divine Power Unleash."
A variety of events are also underway. Starting with a "Baram Points" mission event worth a total of 3 billion points running until April 13, 50 users who choose the new Black Hwarang class and reach level 750 will be selected by lottery to receive a "Kingdom of the Winds 30th Anniversary Hwatu Set." In addition, 100 users who receive "Great Fortune" in their daily fortune reading will be selected by lottery to receive a "Squirrel Evil-Warding Doll."
During the event period, a "Corrosion Restoration Hammer" that can restore corroded legendary equipment will be distributed once per account. An attendance event offering generous rewards including a "[30th Anniversary] Commemorative Logo," "Pure Gold Chamber Pot," and "Inner Power Enhancement Orb Box" will also be held. Among users who create a new character and reach level 99, 2,000 will be selected by lottery to receive 5,000 Nexon Cash.
During the same period, rapid growth benefit events including "Barini Narsha" with 1+1 level-up bonuses, "Aesthetics of Flow," and "Golden Pot Grand Festival" will run. A "Skyrocketing Ultra-Fast Growth Event" offering massive growth rewards for new and returning users will run until June 3. Additionally, "Jangdolbaengi Name Market," where players can acquire desired nicknames using the in-game currency "Gold," will operate until March 29. A "Premium Baram Adventure" event, where players collect adventure points through gameplay and exchange them for various items, will also take place.
Nexon's other games, including *Mabinogi Mobile*, *Dungeon & Fighter Mobile*, and *MapleStory M*, will hold successive events celebrating the 30th anniversary of *The Kingdom of the Winds* through May. The game's official online store "Dotori Shop" will also release 30th anniversary merchandise including desk pads, acrylic mood lights, and stickers.
