Uber Taxi, the global ride-hailing platform, announced on July 1 the launch of "Premier Van," a premium mobility service. The new offering was designed to meet rising demand for family and group transportation, including airport transfers, travel and golf outings.
Premier Van focuses on delivering a premium ride experience for multiple passengers or heavy-luggage situations, backed by spacious interiors and enhanced convenience. The service accommodates up to five passengers and can carry up to four 30-inch suitcases.
Users can select "Premier Van" from the vehicle options within the Uber app to book a ride. The service operates on an upfront fare system for user convenience. The fare displayed in the app before boarding is the exact amount charged, eliminating concerns over price fluctuations caused by traffic congestion or route changes. Members of Uber One, Uber Taxi's membership program, also receive up to 5% of their payment back as Uber One credits.
Premier Van will launch in Seoul first, with plans to expand to other regions. A reservation feature allowing users to schedule pickup times in advance will also be rolled out gradually, making the service convenient for airport transfers and other trips that require prior booking.
"As mobility patterns of domestic and international users have diversified — and demand for group travel and ample cargo space has grown, particularly among tourists — we decided to launch Premier Van," an Uber Taxi official said. "Leveraging the high accessibility of the Uber app, which operates in more than 70 countries worldwide, we will strive to provide an optimal mobility experience for foreign tourists, contribute to boosting domestic tourism, and offer more choices for both passengers and drivers."
Following the Premier Van launch, Uber Taxi also plans to introduce a large taxi service on Jeju Island, where foreign tourist taxi demand is high, within this month.
