The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) announced Wednesday that it has designated Koscom, a financial IT services provider, as the operating agency for its new "One-Stop Support Center for Pseudonymized Information."
The center is a specialized agency that provides integrated support across the entire pseudonymization process, including △pseudonymization design and risk assessment, selection of pseudonymization tools and technical support, △adequacy evaluation, and △data transfer support and post-management.
While the need for pseudonymized data utilization is expanding due to surging data demand in the artificial intelligence (AI) era, the center's support targets public institutions that have relatively insufficient pseudonymization capabilities.
When public institutions apply for the one-stop pseudonymization support service, the center will either carry out pseudonymization collectively or provide close-contact support throughout the process. The initiative is also expected to substantially reduce legal risks by requiring verification procedures from specialized agencies on the adequacy of pseudonymization.
The PIPC plans to complete final preparations with Koscom and begin actively supporting central government ministries, local governments, and public corporations and agencies to smoothly provide pseudonymized information starting July 1.
