Kakao (035720.KS) is introducing emoticon products based on literary works.
The company said Sunday it has launched the "Text Hip Exhibition," a curated collection that reinterprets sentences from beloved literary authors' works into Kakao emoticon format.
The exhibition was designed to allow users to experience literary sensibility and language in everyday conversations. Kakao collaborated with five Korean literary authors — Go Seon-gyeong, Kim Geum-hee, Kim Ae-ran, Park Jun and Jeong Se-rang. The company released five emoticon product sets, one per author, each reconstructing sentences from their works into emoticon format. Illustrations that complement the text were also added to enhance the quality of the text-centered content.
To celebrate the exhibition, Kakao will also hold an offline program called "Emoticon Reading Session," where participating authors will read aloud sentences from their works. Users who purchase one or more emoticons from the "Text Hip Exhibition" at the Kakao Emoticon Store by the 8th and leave a comment will be entered into a lottery to win tickets, with a total of 175 winners receiving two tickets each.
"This exhibition is meaningful in that it proposes a new content format centered on text itself, expanding beyond traditional character-based emoticons," said Kim Ji-hyun, leader of Kakao's Emoticon Tribe. "We will continue to broaden the spectrum of emoticon content through collaborations with various creative genres."
