Databricks, a big data analytics platform provider, has launched solutions in Korea aimed at lowering the barrier to artificial intelligence transformation (AX) for enterprises. The company introduced its solutions to domestic information technology (IT) firms and signaled plans to expand its business in Korea.
Databricks held "2026 AI Day Seoul" on Thursday at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, inviting approximately 2,000 IT industry professionals. Headquartered in San Francisco, Databricks develops enterprise data analytics platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) services. Its clients include AT&T and Mastercard. The company posted revenue of $5.4 billion (approximately 8 trillion won) last year, with its enterprise value reaching $134 billion (approximately 202 trillion won).
Nick Eares (pictured), Databricks Vice President for Asia-Pacific, delivered the keynote address at the event. "Many companies are hitting walls in their AX efforts," Eares said. "The reason companies struggle with AX is that data and AI within the enterprise remain disconnected."
Databricks then announced it would launch its services designed to address enterprise AX challenges in Korea this year. The company unveiled three solutions: Lakebase, Genie and Agent Bricks. Lakebase is an open database system. Genie is a conversational AI agent, and Agent Bricks is a tool that enables users to build customized AI agents. At the event, LG Uplus (032640.KS) and Nol Universe also presented case studies on how they use Databricks solutions. Genie and Agent Bricks have officially launched in Korea this year, while Lakebase is set to debut in the country in May.
After introducing each solution, Eares stressed, "The advantage of Databricks is that the platform and its users grow together. As companies build AI agents and AI apps themselves to solve various problems, they develop rich AI capabilities." He added, "Databricks will continue to equip its platform with more data and AI features for its customers going forward."
