Kakao (035720.KS), the Korean internet platform giant, is set to elevate the accessibility and convenience of national pension services using its artificial intelligence technology.
Kakao said on May 31 that it signed a memorandum of understanding on "AI-based public service innovation and operational transformation" with the National Pension Service (NPS) at the NPS headquarters in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.
The agreement was pursued to innovate public services and accelerate AI transformation in the public sector through private-public AI collaboration. Kakao plans to create an environment where anyone can use pension services more easily and conveniently based on its AI technology and services. The company will also explore various cooperation measures to integrate AI technology across the NPS's administrative operations.
Kakao CEO Jeong Sin-a, who attended the signing ceremony, said, "If the National Pension is the foundation for preparing the public's future, I believe Kakao can play the role of making that value something people experience in their daily lives." She added, "Through Kakao's AI technology and platform, we will drive change so that people can naturally understand and utilize pensions in a familiar environment, without separate procedures or learning."
NPS Chairman Kim Sung-ju emphasized, "The National Pension Service and Kakao will join hands to apply AI technology to pension services and administrative operations so that the public can easily and accurately access pension information anytime, anywhere, and the NPS can carry out its work more efficiently and transparently." He added, "Through an innovative AI transformation, we will become an institution that delivers real value to the public and local communities."
Meanwhile, Kakao launched a pilot "AI Public Assistant Service" in March this year in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, enhancing the accessibility and convenience of public services. With the NPS agreement as a springboard, the company plans to continue expanding AI-based services across public services that are closely connected to people's daily lives.
