Amid growing cyber threats such as phishing, a new service has been launched to help small business owners manage various security risks that can arise during store operations.
SK Broadband, a South Korean telecommunications provider, announced on the 30th the launch of "Sajangnim Ansim" (Boss Relief), an internet security service designed for small business owners. The service provides triple-layer protection — prevention, diagnosis and inspection — for PCs and smart devices. Specifically, it blocks access to harmful websites and malicious code on in-store devices including PCs, tablets and mobile phones, and offers virus scanning, remote visits and inspections when technical issues occur, as well as protection against smishing, hacking, phishing and quishing attacks.
Another key advantage is reduced financial burden for small business owners who are forced to close their businesses. If a subscriber needs to terminate the service before the contract period ends due to store closure, submitting a business closure certificate exempts them from internet discount clawback fees. "In an environment where store operation risks have grown due to the economic downturn and rising closure rates, this will help ease the management burden on small business owners," SK Broadband said.
When subscribers use the service together with SK Broadband's "Deundeun Internet" package, they can receive up to 3 million won (approximately $2,200) in financial fraud damage coverage, as well as up to 500,000 won each per year for repairs to in-store equipment such as point-of-sale (POS) terminals and card payment devices. The aim is to go beyond preventing security incidents by also supporting damage compensation after incidents occur.
"We hope that Deundeun Internet, Share Internet and the Sajangnim Ansim service will help reduce the operational burden on small business owners," said Kwon Jung-hoon, head of SK Broadband's SOHO & Value division. "We will continue to introduce products that reflect the needs and challenges of our small business customers."
