Slam Burger, a burger brand operated by foodtech company ControlM, launched a new "Potato Series" menu developed using its artificial intelligence solution "RestoGenie," the company said Sunday.
The Potato Series was conceived after the AI detected a trending "French fry meetup" movement in local online communities. Recent consumer trends showed customers prioritizing value for money and fun over simply seeking low prices despite high inflation. The fact that potato-based menu items are inexpensive in terms of ingredient costs and operational efficiency was also a factor. The centerpiece of the series is the "1kg Mega French Fries," featuring a full kilogram of fries served in a paper sack and positioned as a main dish rather than a side.
The new menu delivered measurable sales results. Weekly sales at branches rose 10% from the previous week immediately after the launch. Trend analysis and menu planning were also automated through AI, reducing the time previously required for preparation. The internal marketing team produced 15 image content pieces in just a few days, significantly cutting promotional costs.
ControlM had previously launched its "Truffle Burger Series" in December last year, with AI handling everything from menu planning to promotional image creation. The Truffle Burger accounted for 20% of total sales within one month of its launch, establishing itself as a signature menu item.
"Following the Truffle Burger, this Potato Series has once again confirmed that AI can help improve profitability and business operations in the restaurant industry," ControlM CEO Won Jong-kwan said. "We plan to continue advancing our solution to help restaurant owners reduce the burden of menu development and marketing, so they can focus more on growth."
