Snowflake Korea, the local unit of global AI data cloud company Snowflake, is holding "Snowflake Hackathon 2026," an event where participants build ideas using real data on the Snowflake platform.
Snowflake Korea said Monday it is hosting the hackathon for the second consecutive year. This year, the event is divided into two tracks — a "Tech Track" for development and a "Business Track" for business ideas — to encourage participation from a wider range of applicants. The Business Track, in particular, assigns challenges focused on data-driven business ideas and problem-solving, making it open not only to data scientists, engineers and developers but also to the general public.
Participants can freely design data applications using Snowflake's AI data cloud platform. Data sets provided by various partners including Ajungdang, SPH, Richgo (Datanows) and NextTrade will be used in the hackathon. The core challenge is to creatively develop solutions that can generate new business value by leveraging Snowflake Marketplace, where multiple third-party data sets are shared. Participants may also freely use additional Snowflake libraries or open-source tools as needed.
Three meetups and webinars will be held ahead of the main event to help participants use the Snowflake platform more effectively. A webinar on April 1, in particular, will feature last year's winning teams and judges offering key guidance for advancing to the hackathon finals.
The six finalist teams will present on stage at the finals on April 29, and winners will be determined through evaluation by a judging panel of industry experts. The panel includes Choi Ki-young, country manager of Snowflake Korea, along with data and AI experts from Richgo, SPH, Ajungdang, LG U+ and Naver Webtoon.
"This hackathon, now in its second year, is a venue for building and sharing real innovations based on data and AI," Choi Ki-young, country manager of Snowflake Korea, said. "We hope that developers, data professionals, and anyone interested in AI will participate and discover new possibilities."
Applications are open until April 5, and final project submissions are due by April 12. Event schedules and further details are available on the official website.
