Cosmo Advanced Materials & Technology (005070.KQ), a specialty advanced materials company, has formed a strategic technology alliance with Battery Solution, a next-generation battery materials technology venture, to target the next-generation cathode materials market.
Cosmo AM&T said it signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) for next-generation cathode material development and commercialization with Battery Solution at its Chungju headquarters earlier this month.
The agreement is a move to secure leadership in next-generation materials amid the rapidly changing global secondary battery market. Under the accord, Battery Solution's world-class cathode material design and foundational technology will be combined with Cosmo AM&T's mass production process capabilities. The two companies will begin mutual verification of technology and business viability, aiming to manufacture and commercialize innovative products that maximize both performance and price competitiveness.
The next-generation cathode materials the two companies are jointly developing aim to surpass the limitations of existing materials by simultaneously achieving high energy density and safety. Battery Solution plans to apply its specialized design technology to introduce high-value-added products that meet global market demands.
Battery Solution provides optimal material design based on the foundational technology of Professor Sun Yang-kook of Hanyang University, a leading authority in cathode materials. Cosmo AM&T will apply these designs to its latest mass production facilities to accelerate commercialization.
