CJ OliveNetworks, the IT services arm of CJ Group, said Thursday it has completed the deployment of a next-generation point-of-sale (POS) system and kiosks for Shinsung Tongsang, a Korean textile and fashion brand distributor that owns clothing labels including Topten, Ziozia and Olzen.
CJ OliveNetworks and Shinsung Tongsang have been rolling out the next-generation POS system in phases across Shinsung Tongsang's nationwide stores since last year.
CJ OliveNetworks consolidated Shinsung Tongsang's previously fragmented POS systems into a cloud-based environment, building a high-performance, high-availability infrastructure. The most significant feature of the new system is the shift from a web browser-based architecture to a client-server (CS) model that leverages the terminal's own resources. The POS and sales management systems were integrated to enhance performance and scalability while ensuring stable connectivity with internal and external systems.
The company also strengthened operational resilience so that stores can maintain normal operations during various emergencies involving system or network failures. Even if the network goes down, the payment environment enables immediate transaction processing through Wi-Fi or mobile data tethering.
With this deployment, Shinsung Tongsang can now centrally manage payment and sales data from approximately 1,300 stores nationwide through the cloud. The fast payment processing and non-stop architecture that operates even during emergencies are expected to improve store operational efficiency.
"We will continue to support our clients' business competitiveness based on our IT service capabilities specialized for the retail industry," said Lee Sang-young, head of CJ OliveNetworks' retail and entertainment division.
