S-Oil (010950) announced on the 4th that it will provide 30 million won in condolence money to the family of Fire Lieutenant Seong Chi-in of the Haengsin Safety Center at Goyang Fire Station, who died in the line of duty after being injured while fighting a fire at an auto repair shop in Deokyang-gu, Goyang-si.
The late Fire Lieutenant Seong was dispatched to a fire at an auto repair shop in Deokyang-gu, Goyang-si around noon on November 24 last year. While conducting firefighting operations, he was found in cardiac arrest at the scene around 12:30 p.m. the same day. He was transported to a hospital and received inpatient treatment but ultimately died in the line of duty the previous afternoon.
An S-Oil official said, "We offer our condolences to the firefighter who suffered an unexpected accident while dedicating himself to protecting the safety and lives of the public, and express our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family." The official added, "We hope S-Oil's condolence payment will provide some help to the family in overcoming their grief and maintaining a stable life."
S-Oil has been conducting systematic support activities since signing a 'Firefighter Hero Guardian' agreement with the National Fire Agency in 2006, including commendations for heroic firefighters, condolence payments and tuition support for families of firefighters killed in the line of duty, encouragement payments for injured firefighters, and rest camps for firefighter couples.
