LG Electronics (066570) is expanding its mobile consultation service that brings appliance inspections and guidance directly to underserved rural and fishing communities.
The company announced Wednesday it has launched a "mobile appliance service" based near Okcheon Village Hall in Hampyeong-eup, South Jeolla Province, visiting nearby households to provide consultations. The service targets appliance users in rural areas who have difficulty accessing service centers, offering free inspections of washing machines, refrigerators, TVs, and air conditioners. It also provides replacement of consumables such as filters and old power strips, along with safety measures including fire extinguisher patch installation.
Building on this initiative, LG Electronics plans to expand its previously self-operated mobile service into a community-focused program in partnership with local governments. Under the arrangement, municipalities identify villages and households requiring service, and LG Electronics prioritizes support to those areas. The company recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Hampyeong County to formalize this cooperation.
LG Electronics will first provide mobile services to 33 villages within Hampyeong County during the first half of this year. The company is also exploring partnerships with other local governments. Last year, it delivered more than 1,000 service visits across 15 villages in South Jeolla Province, covering a total travel distance of 2,000 kilometers.
"We will further expand our efforts to proactively reach areas in need, resolve inconveniences, and help customers make fuller use of their products," said Jeong Jae-woong, Head of Customer Value Innovation Division at LG Electronics.
