Drone swarm and autonomous flight platform developer UVify has closed a 60 billion won ($42 million) funding round, according to venture capital information platform TheVC on the 4th. Venture capital firm Krit Ventures and Nexon holding company NXC participated in the investment.
UVify is a drone startup founded in 2014 by CEO Lim Hyun, who holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering from Seoul National University. The company has targeted overseas markets since its inception, generating most of its revenue abroad. It became the first Korean drone company to receive the "$10 Million Export Tower" award. UVify has established its position in the entertainment drone market by executing large-scale global drone shows including the Netflix K-pop series "Demon Hunters" event at Seoul's Han River, the M Drone Light Show at Busan's Gwangalli Beach, and performances for G-Dragon and Blackpink.
The company's global technology leadership is also noteworthy. UVify is the only Korean company on the board of the Dronecode Foundation, which oversees PX4, a core operating system for the drone industry. At DSK 2026, Korea's largest drone exhibition recently held in Busan, the company announced its goal of achieving 100% domestic production of core components.
Breeze Bio Raises $25M Ahead of IPO
Breeze Bio (formerly GenEdit) has successfully raised 36 billion won ($25 million) ahead of its initial public offering. The funding brings Breeze Bio's cumulative investment to approximately 170 billion won. Yuanta Investment led the round, with participation from Lofty Rock Investment, Daily Partners, and DSC Investment.
Breeze Bio is a biotech company founded in 2016 by CEO Lee Keun-woo and Senior Vice President Park Hyo-min, two Korean-American scientists from UC Berkeley. The company develops gene therapeutics capable of selective non-viral delivery. It is headquartered in South San Francisco, California, and operates an R&D center in Pangyo, Gyeonggi Province, Korea.
Wireless Chip Developer Unicon Secures $13M Series B
Unicon, a developer and supplier of wireless communication semiconductors, has recently closed a 18.5 billion won ($13 million) Series B funding round. Participants included Bon Angels Venture Partners, Korea Development Bank, Doosan Investment, and K&Investment Partners. Unicon's cumulative funding now stands at 33.6 billion won.
Unicon develops UC60, a 60-gigahertz full-duplex wireless communication semiconductor chip connector. The company is building wireless solutions that can effectively replace or supplement wired connections in environments requiring ultra-high speed and low latency.
UC60 has completed validation for smartphones, laptops, and robotic arm joints, and is preparing for mass production. The technology has recently entered testing phases in physical AI communication applications including humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and space data center docking systems, where it has been recognized for its high potential.
