Wednesday Opening with Poetry - Morning

Morning

By Jeong Hyeon-jong

In the morning

there is no such thing as fate.

All there is

is a new day's

fresh energy!

Fate may perhaps

in the evening or at night

approach

with heavy steps,

but in the morning

there is no such thing as fate.

---

Morning is when the day begins anew. It is when the earth's eyelids open in the pitch darkness. It is when sleeping birds awaken to sing and wet grass shakes off the dew. It is when people tie their shoelaces before the path they will run throughout the day. Morning is a bowstring that launches all life with vigor. It is when fate retreats like mist. Just because your steps grow heavy in the evening or night, there is no need to blame the weight of fate. Fate exists only for those who believe in fate, and a new day exists for those who believe in a new day.
