Kia (000270) announced Monday that it sold 247,401 vehicles globally in February.
The figure represents a 2.8% decline from the same period last year. Domestic sales fell 8.7% to 42,002 units, while overseas sales dropped 1.5% to 205,005 units.
The Sportage led global sales with 47,081 units, followed by the Seltos at 24,305 units and the K4 at 18,434 units. The Sportage performed particularly well overseas, with 43,281 units sold.
The Sorento was the best-selling model in South Korea with 7,693 units. Among recreational vehicles (RVs), the Sportage sold 3,800 units and the Carnival sold 3,712 units.
Electric vehicle sales reached 14,488 units, surpassing the 10,000-unit monthly threshold for the first time and setting an all-time monthly record. The PV5 led EV sales with 3,967 units, followed by the EV3 at 3,469 units and the EV5 at 2,524 units. The previous monthly EV sales record was 7,686 units in February 2023.
"Domestic sales temporarily declined due to fewer business days caused by the Lunar New Year holiday last month compared to the same period last year," a Kia official said. "We will improve sales by focusing on new models and eco-friendly vehicles, including the Seltos Hybrid, PV5, and EV5."
