Autonomous A2Z announced on the 26th that it has become the first Korean autonomous driving company to receive government approval for exporting national core technology, and will export its autonomous driving technology to the United Arab Emirates.
On the 25th (local time), Autonomous A2Z delivered the export approval certificate to its UAE joint venture at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi. The company had previously established the joint venture with UAE-based Space42 in November last year. Attendees at the ceremony included Ha Jung-woo, Senior Secretary for AI Future Planning at the Presidential Office; Choi Young-jun, Minister-Counselor at the Korean Embassy in the UAE; Kim Sang-jin of the National AI Strategy Committee; Yoo Min-sang, Chief Strategy Officer of Autonomous A2Z; and Munira Al Marzouqi, Executive Director of Space42.
Autonomous driving is designated as a national core technology by the government, requiring prior approval from relevant authorities for overseas export. Autonomous A2Z obtained the first-ever export approval in the autonomous driving sector after review by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
With this approval, Autonomous A2Z will deploy its self-developed Level 4 autonomous vehicle "ROY" and various modified vehicles in the UAE. The joint venture between Autonomous A2Z and Space42 is progressively expanding autonomous vehicle production, demonstration projects, and AI mobility services in the Middle East. The company is pursuing contracts worth $7.6 million (approximately 11 billion won) by year-end and plans to generate local revenue of $78 million (approximately 110 billion won) by 2035.
Han Ji-hyung, CEO of Autonomous A2Z, said, "This export approval represents more than just a company's overseas expansion—it marks the global debut of autonomous driving as a core technology that will lead Korea forward."
