SOOP announced on the 25th that it will host the "2026 LoL Destruction Tournament Season 1," an esports content series featuring League of Legends, starting the same day.
The "Destruction Tournament" is open to all SOOP streamers. Over the past 10 years, approximately 10,000 streamers have participated, with cumulative viewership surpassing 400 million, making it SOOP's flagship original esports content.
This season features retired legendary pro gamers including Peanut, KimGoon, and Smap teaming up with SOOP streamers. The tournament retains operational elements from the previous season, such as the sixth-man system allowing active professional players to join teams, the manager and coach system, and the finals analysis desk. New features include a revamped point system and the introduction of category broadcast time advantages.
The tournament runs for approximately three weeks, from registration opening today through the finals on the 14th of next month. According to the given point system, five streamers of varying skill levels form a team to compete. The top four teams from user voting and top four teams from preliminary match results—eight teams in total—advance to the main tournament. The main tournament operates in a double elimination format, with first and second-place teams from Groups A and B advancing to the semifinals. The finals will be held offline at the 600-seat DN Colosseum in Sangam-dong.
The previous tournament, 2025 Destruction Tournament Season 2, recorded approximately 23 million viewers, with the finals reaching 360,000 concurrent viewers. The event continues to grow in both scale and buzz, with over 40 teams and more than 200 streamers participating in the last tournament.
This season, DEEPLOL, a League of Legends match history search service, joins as a sponsor and will provide various data and detailed analysis for each match.
A SOOP official stated, "We plan to continue expanding the participatory esports culture created together by streamers and users through the Destruction Tournament."
