Generative artificial intelligence solution provider Genon announced Sunday that it has established its first overseas subsidiary in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The company completed the establishment of PT. Genon Global Indonesia, officially marking its entry into the Indonesian market. Kim Tae-ryong, overseas business development lead who has spearheaded local market development and international business expansion, was appointed as the inaugural head of the subsidiary.
Since 2023, Genon has been building its overseas business capabilities by conducting proof-of-concept trials for vision AI-based automated quality inspection solutions at footwear manufacturing plants for global fashion brands in Korea and abroad. Starting last year, the company began generating meaningful revenue, securing both technological competitiveness and profitability.
Industry analysts widely assess that Indonesia's AI solution supply falls short of its rapidly growing market demand. Genon's strategy is to proactively capture digital transformation demand through its local subsidiary.
With this establishment, the company plans to accelerate local deployment of its vision AI-based quality management solutions. It will also diversify its local business portfolio, focusing on workflow automation solutions powered by generative AI. Genon plans to expand into other major Southeast Asian markets including Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
"Genon has laid a foundation for stable market entry in Indonesia through three years of thorough preparation, not a hasty short-term approach," said Genon CEO Ko Seok-tae. "Based on our proven AI technology and business capabilities, we will emerge as a key partner leading AI transformation in Southeast Asia's manufacturing and public sectors."
