Global content platform Spoonlabs announced that its audio social content platform "Spoon" has launched the audio novel service "PodNovel" globally.
PodNovel's audio novels are a new form of audio content consisting of hundreds of episodes, each approximately 10 minutes long. Narrators read novels accompanied by background music and sound effects that match the mood of each work. Unlike audiobooks that simply read original texts aloud, PodNovel uses scripts optimized for audio media to enhance listener immersion. The service allows users to enjoy content without screens, reducing visual fatigue while delivering an immersive storytelling experience.
Spoon users in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan can now access audio novels across multiple genres including romance and fantasy through the PodNovel tab. The platform also offers a "wait to unlock" feature that makes subsequent episodes available for free after a set period. Spoon plans to enhance content quality by adapting popular web novel intellectual properties into PodNovel series, leveraging proven stories.
"PodNovel marks the beginning of audio novels as a new content format that enables deep immersion without eye strain," said Choi Hyuk-jae, CEO of Spoonlabs. "We will continue expanding genres and titles to strengthen our content competitiveness and establish audio novels as a next-generation storytelling medium."
