Nexon has created a new executive chairman position and appointed Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Embark Studios, as part of its global market expansion strategy.
Nexon announced on the 20th that its board of directors approved the appointment of Söderlund as Executive Chairman of the Company. Söderlund is the founder and CEO of Embark Studios, the developer behind the global hit "ARC Raiders," and has served on Nexon's board since 2018.
As executive chairman, Söderlund will oversee Nexon's long-term strategy, creative direction, and global game development approach to drive the company's growth. CEO Jung-hun Lee will continue as CEO and chairman of the board, responsible for executing the direction set by Söderlund.
"Nexon has all the assets needed for explosive growth," Söderlund said. "I have reached a shared vision with CEO Lee for the company's development and am ready to begin work immediately."
Lee said Söderlund is "a proven leader who has established development studios, assembled top talent, and created global hits," adding that "his capabilities and experience are exactly what Nexon needs right now."
Nexon, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, plans to hold a capital markets briefing in Japan on May 31 to provide more details on its strategic priorities for this year.
