
SK Telecom CEO Jeong Jae-heon urged employees to "work toward the company's sustained growth and development through accelerating AI transformation (AX)."
According to SK Telecom, CEO Jeong made the remarks during meetings with new employees and team leaders on December 5 and 6. The company disclosed the details through its newsroom on December 19.
At the gathering with new employees, when asked about fundamentals and principles that should be maintained amid various changes including AX transformation, CEO Jeong said, "Senior colleagues know the direction and solutions for work well, but you may be more familiar with new tools like AI." He added, "Please become proactive agents who propose directions using new tools."
He also emphasized that "the essential virtue for office workers is 'change,'" noting that "the company helps employees work in a stable environment, and employees must develop capabilities the company needs in the AI era."
When asked how to build a sustainable structure for the telecommunications business, he defined "telecommunications networks as the core infrastructure supporting the AI era" and stressed that "the essence of our business is 'customers.'" He further stated, "We will continue investing in security and network quality to strengthen trust with customers and build a company with solid fundamentals."
During the meeting with team leaders, he said, "This year, we aim to create an environment for AX transformation and make AI transformation visible." He called on "leaders who drive operations in the field to take ownership, raise issues, find solutions, and execute them."
"Organizations can become stronger when they change while maintaining fundamentals and principles," he said. "In the major trend of AX transformation, I ask each and every employee to become an agent of 'one united dream team' and lead SKT's transformation."
