Naver Pay, the mobile payment service operated by Naver Corp., experienced a payment system failure on the 19th.
The company announced through a customer notice that payment errors began occurring from 12 p.m., with recovery efforts currently underway.
The affected services include point balance inquiries and payment failures on the Naver Pay checkout page, inability to view payment and event histories, in-store point and money payments, and Pay Money Card transactions. Following the incident, Naver Pay reported the matter to the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Electronic Finance Supervision Bureau of the Financial Supervisory Service.
The cause of the outage has not yet been identified, but the company stated the issue was not caused by external factors such as hacking. Naver Pay said it "will provide additional updates through official notices once service is fully restored."
A Naver Pay spokesperson said, "Card-linked payments are operating normally, but issues have occurred with point and Pay Money Card payments. We are mobilizing company-wide resources to restore full service."
