NC AI is forming an alliance spanning industry and academia to secure leadership in the physical artificial intelligence (AI) sector.
NC AI announced on the 11th that it has established the 'K-Physical AI Alliance' consortium to carry out the 'World Foundation Model Technology Development for Physical AI Model Training' project organized by the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP).
The consortium, comprising 53 institutions, aims to develop 'World Foundation Models (WFM)' and 'Robotics Foundation Models (RFM)' that enable robots to understand and act in the real world. Built around NC AI's world model, the alliance includes major Korean conglomerates such as Samsung SDS, Lotte Innovate, Posco DX, and Hanwha Ocean, along with university research teams and robotics startups.
NC AI plans to leverage its 3D generative model 'Varco 3D' and reinforcement learning expertise gained from training AI through interactions with millions of users in massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) environments including Lineage and Aion 2.
"This consortium is an unprecedented alliance that transcends company size, regional boundaries, and industry barriers, united under the single goal of becoming 'global number one in physical AI,'" said Lee Yeon-su, CEO of NC AI.
