LG Uplus CEO Hong Bum-shik will deliver the opening keynote address at MWC26, the world's largest mobile telecommunications exhibition, in Barcelona, Spain on March 2 (local time). This marks the first time an LG Group executive has served as an official keynote speaker at MWC.
According to LG Uplus on February 11, Hong will speak on the theme of "Humanizing Every Connection," heralding the dawn of the AI call agent era. The keynote was prepared to convey the company's vision that its self-developed AI call agent "ixi-O" can create new customer experiences in voice communications and make human connections more valuable.
During the keynote, a video will be presented showing a family story about discovering each other's value through voice calls. The video aims to introduce LG Uplus's "human-centered AI" philosophy of "putting people into connections."
ixi-O is an on-device AI call agent launched in late 2024 as Korea's first such service. It offers call recording and summarization, real-time voice phishing detection, and AI-altered voice detection. Recently, through collaboration with Google, the company unveiled a service providing generative AI-based search during calls.
Other keynote speakers at MWC26 include AT&T CEO John Stankey, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, and Nokia CEO Justin Hotard.
Hong will also attend a dinner hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain before the MWC26 opening. The Spanish monarch annually invites CEOs delivering keynotes at MWC from GSMA member companies. Hong plans to actively promote the excellence of Korean AI technology.
