NCSoft announced on the 10th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 432.7 billion won and operating profit of 16.1 billion won for last year. Revenue declined 5% year-over-year, while operating profit returned to black. Net income for the same period surged 269%, reflecting proceeds from the sale of NC Tower 1.
Annual revenue by region was 928.3 billion won in Korea, 277.5 billion won in Asia, and 124.7 billion won in North America and Europe. Royalty revenue was 176.4 billion won. Overseas and royalty revenue accounted for 38% of total sales. By platform, mobile games generated 794.4 billion won annually, while PC online games brought in 430.9 billion won.
For the fourth quarter of last year, the company posted revenue of 404.2 billion won, operating profit of 3.2 billion won, and net loss of 1.5 billion won. Driven by the success of Aion 2, launched in November last year, fourth-quarter PC online game revenue reached 168.2 billion won—the highest since 2017. This represents an 80% increase from the same period a year earlier.
NCSoft, which focused on building a foundation for future growth through aggressive domestic and overseas investments last year, plans to strengthen its global competitiveness in earnest this year. The company will launch the global service of Aion 2 and release new global titles including Thinder City, Time Takers, and Limit Zero Breakers, while also expanding legacy intellectual property through spin-off game releases and regional expansion. Additionally, the company is pursuing the establishment of a "mobile casual platform ecosystem" through mergers and acquisitions.
Lineage Classic, which began service on the 7th, has also been deemed successful in its early box-office performance. Within two days of launch, the game recorded 500,000 cumulative users and 180,000 peak concurrent users, drawing enthusiastic response from so-called "Linjussi" gamers—a portmanteau of "Lineage" and "ajussi" (middle-aged men). NCSoft plans to maintain its early momentum by delivering services that actively incorporate user feedback.
