Samsung Biologics is expected to accelerate its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management after completing third-party verification of its Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) system.
The company announced on the 8th that it held a PCF system third-party verification certificate ceremony at its headquarters in Songdo, Incheon, on the 6th. PCF refers to greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout a product's entire lifecycle, from production to disposal. The verification was conducted by DNV, a Norway-based global certification body.
Major global clients have recently been emphasizing greenhouse gas reduction efforts in manufacturing processes, establishing PCF systems as a key standard for carbon neutrality implementation and specifying requirements in contracts. Through this verification, Samsung Biologics' PCF system received validation for accurate calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from energy and raw material usage, as well as waste and wastewater discharge throughout the entire pharmaceutical production process.
