KT announced on February 9 that it will operate an intensive network management system from February 13 to 22 to ensure stable telecommunications services during the Lunar New Year holiday.
KT will conduct network pre-inspections and intensive management at approximately 1,200 locations nationwide where crowds concentrate due to holiday travel, including airports, KTX stations, highways, terminals, and major commercial districts. The company plans to operate a 24-hour comprehensive situation room centered on the Gwacheon Network Control Center along with regional field situation rooms nationwide.
In particular, KT has completed pre-inspections and preparations to utilize surplus network resources from other regions when wireless internet usage surges in specific areas during the holiday period. This is to ensure stable operation of the "Customer Appreciation Program" being offered for six months starting in February. KT customers will receive 100GB of monthly data and one of two OTT subscription options, including Tving, free of charge through the program.
Additionally, KT is strengthening international telecommunications monitoring in response to increased overseas travelers during the Lunar New Year holiday and the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics running through February 22. The company will support customers staying abroad by providing swift rerouting measures when local overseas network issues occur, ensuring uninterrupted roaming services.
KT will also conduct emergency recovery drills for wildfire and facility fire response in preparation for increased fire risks due to cold and dry weather. This is to verify response systems and processes for fire-related risks and ensure seamless network operations.

"We will do our utmost to ensure the public can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday without inconvenience through proactive intensive network management that accounts for the Customer Appreciation Program and the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, as well as emergency fire response recovery drills."
