Nota, an artificial intelligence (AI) model optimization and lightweight technology company, announced it will provide real-time incident information to users of private navigation services including KakaoNavi, Naver Map, and T-Map.
The service features Nota's AI-based automatic incident detection system integrated into the "Gyeonggi Province Cooperative Autonomous Driving Traffic Information Service" operated by the Gyeonggi Future Mobility Center under the Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology. Since December last year, the service helps drivers using private navigation in the Pangyo autonomous vehicle pilot zone recognize road hazards in advance, along with traffic signal information before entering major intersections.
Nota's automatic incident detection system monitors 14 intersections in Pangyo, automatically detecting road incidents such as pedestrians, jaywalking, stopped vehicles, and wrong-way drivers, and delivers this information to navigation apps in real time. Through this system, drivers can identify potential hazards before entering their driving route.
Nota applies on-device AI technology that runs AI models directly on CCTV cameras through AI lightweighting and optimization, enabling real-time automatic detection of incidents. This allows immediate analysis when incidents occur, enabling rapid situational awareness and swift information delivery. Real-time filtered incident information is transmitted to the Gyeonggi Autonomous Driving Center via V2X (Vehicle to Everything) communication and then linked to private navigation services to reach drivers. Unlike previous methods that relied on citizen reports or manual verification by control room operators, this service automates the entire process from incident detection to information delivery.
Nota has secured competitive advantages in both technical performance and commercialization in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) sector. The company achieved top grades in both real-time capability and accuracy in the ITS basic performance evaluation, and recorded commercial-level high incident detection accuracy in the Yeongcheon ITS reinforcement project and ITS technology proof-of-concept (PoC) tests conducted in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
