ASML, the world's largest semiconductor equipment maker based in the Netherlands, reported second-quarter results that exceeded market expectations and sharply raised its annual revenue forecast.
ASML said on the 15th that second-quarter (April-June) revenue reached 9.326 billion euros (about 16 trillion won), up 6.4% from the previous quarter. The figure significantly exceeded the forecast of market research firm LSEG (8.8 billion euros). The second-quarter gross margin was 54.0%, up 1.0 percentage point from the previous quarter's 53.0%.
Second-quarter net profit rose 5.8% from the previous quarter to 2.918 billion euros (about 5 trillion won), surpassing the market forecast of 2.62 billion euros. Sales of new lithography equipment reached 86 units, up 28.4% from 67 units in the previous quarter.
ASML presented third-quarter guidance of 11 billion to 12 billion euros in revenue and a gross margin of 55% to 57%. It forecast annual revenue this year of 43 billion to 45 billion euros (about 73 trillion to 77 trillion won) and a gross margin of 54% to 56%. This marks a sharp upward revision from the 36 billion to 40 billion euros presented at the first-quarter earnings announcement.
Meanwhile, ASML said the same day that Intel is producing some products in its "Intel Core Ultra Series 3" processor lineup based on Intel 18A using "High NA EUV." ASML explained, "This means that preparations for the commercialization of 'High NA EUV' in an actual mass-production environment have been completed." The price of this equipment is known to be more than 350 million euros (about 600 billion won), about twice the level of the previous equipment.
