As the military clash between the United States and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz continues, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of overwhelming retaliation should Iran strike Israeli territory.
At an event held on the 14th in Dimona, a city in the Negev Desert, Netanyahu said, "There is only one message for Iran's leaders. If you attack us, do not expect calm." He added, "Do not expect the situations of the past to be repeated. That will not happen."
He then signaled the possibility of an expanded attack, saying, "Our previous response was already very strong, but if there are further attempts to harm us, we will respond in a completely different and far more powerful way than before."
Netanyahu warned, "The era when you could attack us without paying a heavy price is over. We proved this against Iran's 'axis of evil,' and we will continue to deal resolutely with any force that seeks to harm us."
Regarding the military response Israel carried out in retaliation for Iran's missile attacks, including a strike on a petrochemical facility in southwestern Iran on the 8th of last month, he emphasized its justification, saying, "This is how we have acted so far, and it is a principle of action we will continue to follow." He also said, "We are preparing for every scenario."
Meanwhile, the United States continued its airstrikes on Iran that day. According to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency, authorities in the southern Bushehr provincial government said that four areas of the provincial capital, Bushehr, came under projectile attack.
President Donald Trump appeared on the conservative radio program the "Hugh Hewitt Show" that day and, foreshadowing an attack on Iran, insisted he would continue striking Iran, saying, "There's nothing they can do about it. They have nothing. All they can do is talk big."
