U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a limited-edition passport commemorating the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, featuring his own portrait.
Trump posted a photo of the passport on the social media platform Truth Social on Saturday, describing it as "the new American passport that reads 'Welcome, but be good!'"
The left side of the passport shows Trump staring straight ahead with both fists clenched and his brow furrowed, set against a backdrop of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The right side features an image of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration.
The passport will be issued as a limited edition this summer to mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. founding. The design revised the portion featuring Trump's photo from the draft released by the State Department in April this year. The earlier draft included only a portrait of Trump's face, but this version reveals his upper body.
Fox News drew attention to the warning phrase Trump included with the passport. The network noted that the phrase came as the United States tightens its screening standards for foreign visitors.
The expression "be good" is interpreted as a clear demand that tourists and non-immigrants respect and abide by U.S. laws and institutions.
The State Department said it would issue the new limited-edition passport design to all U.S. citizens who apply, until stocks run out.
