Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is mediating peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, signaled that a final agreement between the two countries is imminent.
In a post on his X account, formerly Twitter, on Friday, Sharif said, "A final agreement is expected within the next 24 hours." He added, "We are closer than ever to a peace agreement," and said, "We are preparing to proceed immediately with the electronic signing of the agreement."
Sharif also referred to the possibility of follow-up procedures.
"We are also preparing to hold working-level talks next week," Sharif said. "I thank the United States and Iran for the continued efforts they have shown during the negotiation process." He added, "I am also sincerely grateful for the support of brotherly nations in the region."
He stressed, "I am confident that this historic peace agreement will serve as a solid foundation for permanent peace."
