Russia on Friday made clear that the ceasefire in the Ukraine war is valid for only three days.
According to Reuters and other sources, Yuri Ushakov, foreign policy adviser to the Kremlin, said, "The ceasefire in the Ukraine war is for three days and no longer."
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also told reporters the same day that "the resolution of the Ukraine issue is extremely complex, and complicated details are entangled before reaching a peace agreement," adding that "there is still a very long way to go."
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump, while mediating a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, expressed hope for an extension of the truce. "Negotiations to end this war, the largest conflict since World War II, are continuing," Trump said, arguing that "we are getting closer to the goal with each passing day." Trump added, "I requested a three-day ceasefire, and President Putin and President Zelenskyy agreed."
