U.S. President Donald Trump warned of high-intensity military action if negotiations with Iran at the ceasefire talks scheduled for Sunday in Islamabad, Pakistan, fail to produce a proper agreement.
In a phone interview with the New York Post on Saturday, Trump responded to a question about whether he expects negotiations with Iran to succeed by saying, "You'll know in about 24 hours."
"We are resetting," Trump said. "We have our ships loaded with the finest ammunition, the finest weapons ever made."
He added that the arsenal is "at a much higher level than what we used when we did a complete obliteration," warning that "if no deal is made, we will use them very effectively."
Trump also expressed skepticism about his negotiating partners, stating, "We're dealing with people that you don't know if they're telling the truth." He noted that Iranian officials "say in front of us they'll get rid of all their nuclear weapons, and then they go in front of the press and say, 'We want enrichment.'"
The in-person ceasefire negotiations on Sunday will include Vice President JD Vance, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, representing the U.S. side.
